UNDER 18 MATCH REPORT FOR 1st NOV v CHIPPENHAM

STOTHERT & PITT U18 7pts CHIPPENHAM 28pts
The Cranes under 18 returned to merit table rugby and gave a much improved performance against a very experienced Chippenham team who now top the merit table.
The game was played in a very strong cross pitch wind and Stotherts started strongly and put the visitors under a lot of pressure in the first 15 minutes during which Toby Patrick hit the post with a penalty kick from 30 metres and Ben Miles was held up over the line but from a quickly taken tap penalty when Chippenham were caught off side at a scrum saw George Patrick make the break and slip the ball to Jim Hardman to score and Toby Patrick convert for a 7-0 lead.
Stotherts kept the Chippenham defence at full stretch but could not cross the white line again and a kick down field by Stotherts was fielded by the influential Chippenham full back run the ball back that resulted in an unconverted try to Chippenham for a 7-5 half time lead to Stotherts
The strong wind against them and conceding various technical penalties were The Cranes downfall in the second half. Chippenham converted two penalties (one hitting the inside of the post before going over the cross bar) when Stothers were guilty of holding on at the tackle and pulling down the maul to give the visitors the lead for the first time at 11-7.
To their credit Stotherts were trying to run the ball from all areas of the pitch to counter the strong wing that was now in their opponents favour but the elements and Chippenham’s growing confidence proved to much in the last quarter as Chippenham scored three tries one of which was converted for a final score of 28 -7 to Chippenham
There are no fixtures next Sunday (Remembrance Day) but merit table rugby resumes on the 15th November when the under 18 squad travel to Bradford on Avon and the under 17 squad travel to Warminster

U18 v CHIPPENHAM - 1st NOVEMBER KO 2.00pm

The under 18 squad have a Dorset & Wilts Division1 North merit table match this Sunday versus Chippenham.
The match is at Corston with a 2.00pm kick off
There is no match this week -end for the under 17 squad
