MATCH REPORTS FOR SUNDAY 18th OCTOBER

Stothert & Pitt Under 17 31pts Catle Cary Under 17 19pts
The Cranes under 17 squad returned to winnings ways at Corston against Castle Cary in a friendly ably refereed by Dan Taylor who took whistle for his first game.
Stotherts started slowly and after 10 mintes found themselves 7-0 in arrears following an excellent run and to a converted under the posts from the visitors center who was a menace to the home team throughout the game.
Recent scrummage and line out practice showed results for the Stotherts forwards as after 15 minutes Sam Shapcott won good ball at number two jumper in the line out for the ball to be spun wide out to Jake Routledge to score wide out for an unconverted try and reduce the arrears to two points.
Charles Clarke produced two bursting runs from the base of the Stotherts scrum that resulted in speedy winger Germaine Williams being help up just short of the line but infulential scrum half Robin Grist was on hand to finish off with a try converted by Kye Emmitt. Stotherts were now playing their best rugby so far this season and a quickly taken tap penalty by Emmitt saw Clarke score with Emmitt converting for a 19-7 half time lead
This lead was extended to 24-7 soon in the second half folloing a blind side move that gave mmitt the space to score wide out but he could not convert.
A lot of sides mat have folded with Castle Cary then hit back with two excellent tries from their flowing threequarters with one converted to reduce the arrears to 24-19 and 10 minutes remaining but regained control with a strong 70 metre run by Germaine Williams run but was denied by a foot in touch and in the dying minutes nippy centre Jack Sherry weaved through the Cary defence to score under the post that Emmitt again converted for a 31-19 final score
Broad Plain Colts 34pts Stothert & Pitt U18 7pts
The Cranes under 18 squad travelled to Bristol with an understrength sqaud which showed in the final result. They battled throughout but could only muster 1 converted try
Next Sunday 25th October both squads will play North Dorset at Corston with both matches kicking off at mid-day

The under 18 squad have an away fixture against BROAD PLAIN KICK OFF IS 2.00pm
The under 17 squad are at home to Castle Cary KICK OFF IS 11.00am.

UNDER 17 XV 0pts SWINDON 43pts

DORSET & WILTS UNDER 18 MERIT TABLE DIVISION 2 NORTH
After their excellent recent win at Frome Stotherts Under 17 squad came up against a very well drilled and experienced Swindon team. The difference in the sides were the Swindon threequarters who handled the ball who were well controlled by their influential fly half.
Stotherts forwards fought game fully throughout the match that was excellently refereed by Johnathon Healey.
Stotherts cause was not helped by a nasty head injury to Jaoe Paisey that required 17 staples that will leave him sidelined for a few weeks.
The Cranes youngsters conceded three unconverted tries in the first half for a 15- 0 lead to Swindon
This was extended by four converted tries in the second half for a 43-0 home defeat
Sam Sherry shone in particular for Stotherts throughout the game.
Next Sunday Stotherts under 18 squad play at Corston against Trowbridge and the under 17 squad travel to Melksham. All players please visit the club web site to view selction and match day arrangements ... [more] |
