SOMERSET CUP 2nd ROUND WIN & QUALIFY FOR SEMI FI

STOTHERT & PITT 20pt MINEHEAD 5pts
Stothert & Pitt Under 17 team entertained Minehead in a Somerset cup 2nd round match that was rescheduled due to the bad weather in February
The Cranes youngsters came out of the blocks at a tremendous pace running the ball from all areas of the pitch with a high level of skill in particular from the forwards who secured numerous strikes against the head in the scrums
A penalty conceded by Minehead under the posts after 15 minutes was converted into a 3 point lead by Joe Paisley and three more tries were scored in the first half through Steve Corrigan (2)and Joe Paisley plus a superb touchline conversion from Kye Emmett saw the Cranes ahead 20-0 at half time.
The second half did not live up to the excitement of the first mainly due to dogged defence from both teams although Stotherts could have scored a couple more tries if the ball could have moved quicker to players in overlap situation.
With the game well out of their reach Minehead started to attack at all times and after running two penalties from in from in front of the posts they scored a consolation try wide out with 15 minutes left.
Despite having a player in the sin bin Stotherts saw out the remaining time without conceding any more points and will now play Bridgwater in the semi final probably at Weston Super Mare’s ground on Sunday 22nd March with a 12.30pm kick off
